What’s special about the ingredients in our ground feed bird food?
Sultanas and Raisins
Sultanas and raisins are a surprisingly good food source for birds, and wildlife such as hedgehogs, badgers and squirrels as they are high in healthy natural sugars, vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin C and Iron. Sultanas and Raisins provide birds with a much needed boost of energy during late winter and early spring when berries are scarce.
Flaked Naked Oats
Oats contain high amounts of many vitamins and minerals, such as manganese, phosphorus, copper, B vitamins, iron, selenium, magnesium, and zinc. Vitamins protect bird’s immunity in optimal condition.
Flaked Maize
Flaked maize has one of the highest oil and energy content of all cereals. It’s great for helping birds maintain their weight and stave off the cold during winter months. Flaked maize is easy to digest and especially appeals to Blackbirds, Thrushes and Robins.
Kibbled Maize
Kibbled maize is higher in calorific energy than wheat. It appeals to a wide variety of birds including larger species such as pheasants and doves.
Sunflower Hearts
Sunflower hearts contain up to 60% oil so are a great source of essential fats that keep bird’s cartilage and plumage healthy. Sunflower hearts are de-husked so leave no mess behind. They are an all round favourite for all birds.
Rape Seed Oil
Birds metabolize fats and oils easily. Rapeseed oil has a good balance of essential fatty acids and is lower in saturates than the other oils. It also has a high content of the omega 3 fatty acid ALA. Research indicates that omega 3 can help boost in the activity of enzymes that improve endurance and muscle tone in birds.
Split blanched peanuts
Peanuts are packed with protein and healthy oils which makes them a high energy feed loved by all species of birds. Blanched peanuts can be easier to digest and leave no mess behind.
